A simpler way to work with devices – introducing Device Manager (Beta)

Every IT team knows the feeling.
You just need to check one device.
Or update software on a handful of machines.
Or understand why a device is not compliant.

And suddenly, you are jumping between views, waiting for pages to load, and opening interfaces you don’t actually need.

With the 25R3.1 release, we are introducing Device Manager (Beta), a new unified way to work with devices in SoftwareCentral that reduces friction in day-to-day device management and helps you act faster when something needs attention.

One place to understand what’s happening

Device Manager brings SCCM and Intune devices together in a single interface, while still respecting how each platform works.

From the overview, you can immediately see:

  • Device type and operating system
  • Primary user
  • Online status for SCCM devices
  • Compliance state for Intune devices

No drilling down. No waiting for heavy views to load. Just the information you need to understand the situation before taking action.

Act on multiple devices, without losing control

When an issue affects more than one device, working one-by-one simply doesn’t scale.

Device Manager introduces bulk actions, allowing you to select multiple devices and perform actions efficiently, whether they are managed by SCCM or Intune.

What matters here is not just speed, but control and safety:

  • SCCM and Intune devices are handled separately to prevent accidental cross-platform actions
  • Existing RBAC permissions are fully respected
  • Selection limits are enforced automatically

This allows teams to work faster, while still operating within established governance and security boundaries.

Faster loading when you need answers now

When troubleshooting or validating a device, waiting for everything to load can slow you down unnecessarily.

Device Manager changes how data is loaded:

  • Key information is available immediately
  • Additional details load in the background
  • You don’t wait for views you may never need

If you noticed the performance improvements in Application Manager, you’ll experience the same approach here – especially when moving between multiple devices.

A clearer view of a single device

When opening a device, the interface adapts depending on whether it is managed by SCCM or Intune, showing only what is relevant for that device and management model.

From one place, you can:

  • Review installed software and deployment status
  • See group or collection membership
  • Check compliance and configuration policies
  • Access BitLocker keys and local admin passwords (Intune)
  • View logs, client logs, and remote control options (SCCM)

The focus is on helping you understand the device state first, and act second.

Designed with feedback in mind

Device Manager is released as Beta by design.

Not because it is incomplete, but because we know that the best device management workflows are shaped by the people who rely on them every day.

Your feedback on:

  • Missing actions
  • Workflow improvements
  • Small friction points

directly influences what we prioritize next.

What’s next

The full release of Device Manager will continue to build on this foundation.

Upcoming improvements include a new, simplified wizard for importing devices into SCCM, following the same design principles.
